Gradac mountains Biokovo PDF Print E-mail
The area of the mountain of Biokovo with the highest peak in Croatia (1762m) is protected Park of nature, where you can go hiking and mountain climbing. In the vicinity there is a church of st. Barbara from the 15th century, numerous historical monuments at Gornji Drvenik , ruins of old settlements, remains of old forts from the 17th century, a church of st. Jure, old village near Zaostrog with a church of st. Margarita from the 15th century, Gornja Podaca with the remains of an old settlement and one of the oldest Romanesque churches in these parts, st. Ivan from the 11th century, memorial house of Fra. A.K Miočić (1704-1760), one of the most famous Croatian poets. Paškal above Gradac and other places nearby have many other cultural and historical sights. There are also organized excursions to Biokovo with expert guides, climbing and cave exploring trips, hunting excursions (wild goats).
